Thassos is not just about beaches, fine food and pristine seas, there is also the 'green heart' of the island, why not hire a jeep and do some serious exploring, drive along mountain tracks under canopies of giant, ancient plane and pine trees with gurgling streams offering musical accompaniment all the way. Cycling, hiking and mountain running are all popular pastimes with some locals offering guided tours.

Scuba diving is increasingly popular, with a few schools around the island, offering services to complete novices up to professional divers – give it a try you definitely won't regret it!

Take a boat trip! Explore some of the hidden beaches and caves of the island whilst relaxing on a traditional boat, most even throw in a couple of hours of fishing if you like, or if you prefer a cooling swim around the boat....
